A Stage 2 burn ban has gone into effect on January 20. The effect is due to increased air stagnation which further reduced the air quality to be "unhealthy for sensitive groups".
Stage 2. During a Stage 2 burn ban:
No burning is allowed in any fireplace, pellet stove or wood stove (certified or not), unless it is your only adequate source of heat.
You can use natural gas or propane fireplaces.
- No visible smoke is allowed from any solid fuel burning device at any time.
This burn ban does not affect ceremonial or cultural fires, such as the ones at the Tribes longhouse. Also, this burn ban will remain in effect until the air quality in our area improves and the burn ban is lifted. It is currently forecast to last until Sunday, January 17, 2009
